This Mercedes-Benz Atego can transport two valuable Aston Martin cars at the same time.
“Perfect Service” is motto of the Aston Workshop located in Durham in north-east England and that is what their customers expect when they have their valuable Aston Martin sports cars serviced by the long-established specialist car company.
With this in mind when the Aston Workshop needed a new, reliable, high-quality freight truck they place their trust in the equally long-established brand with the three-pointed star to collect and deliver the English sports cars: a new Mercedes-Benz Atego 1224 guarantees safe, reliable transport.
The 12-tonne Atego not only ensures safe transport for the valuable load with its completely closed double-decker transport design, but also provides the Ategos driver with a practical sleeping option in its BigSpace cab.
For Neil Calvert, the CEO of Aston Workshop, the new Atego 1224 is a vast improvement on its predecessor: “Our old van had a single deck and could therefore only transport one car. Now we transport two cars at a time, which gives us a whole lot more flexibility.”
The Atego 1224 is powered by a 7.7-litre 6-cylinder in-line engine (OM 936) with 175 kW (238 hp) and has automatic six-gear manual Mercedes PowerShift 3 transmission. The Mercedes-Benz Atego model series was designed especially for light- and medium-duty distribution haulage and covers the spectrum from 7.5 to 16 tonnes GVW.
